How should I care for my silk quilt?
1 - Keep your quilt out of direct sunlight. Ultraviolet light speeds up the deterioration of fibers and dyes.
2 - Vacuum your quilt about once a year to remove dust. Screening material can be used to cover your quilt while vacuuming.
3 - Place your quilt only next to non-acidic surfaces - never next to cardboard, unsealed wood or acidic paper.
4 - Iron your silk on a medium silk setting and avoid water "spits" from the iron that can stain the silk.
If I want to wash my silk quilt how should I go about this?
1 - Just like cotton or wool, some silk dyes will bleed. Therefore, if you plan on washing your silk quilt, test wash a small piece of each fabric you plan on using. If a fabric bleeds do not use it in your quilt.
2 - Also, just like cotton and wool, silk shrinks. Therefore, if you plan on washing your silk quilt, prewash all of the fabric before sewing.
3 - Hand washing, using a mild soap, is preferable to machine washing.
4 - Remove excess water from your quilt by pressing on the quilt with towels. Do NOT wring dry.

Do you have a physical store?
Mandarina Silks is an Internet store with a warehouse distribution facility. We do not have a brick and mortar store. We do, however, often show our products as vendors at Quilt Shows. We will post show dates and locations at which our products can be viewed first hand as these dates are set up. We look forward to seeing you in person at these events!
